Admission
Admission is discretionary. The Stanford Continuing Studies Program requires students to hold a high school diploma or its equivalent. Students are not matriculated Stanford University students, and not all University privileges apply to Continuing Studies students. The University reserves the right, at its discretion, to withhold registration from, or require withdrawal from the program of, any student or applicant.International Students
The Stanford Continuing Studies Program does not sponsor visas for international students. Continuing Studies courses are open to anyone who holds a high school diploma or equivalent certification. You do not need to take a test or fill out an application for review. Our program is not a competitive entry, degree-granting program. The University offers Continuing Studies courses for students who wish to take courses for professional development or personal enrichment. International students do not need an F-1 visa. Please keep in mind that although Stanford faculty and researchers teach many of the Continuing Studies courses, these courses do not grant undergraduate or graduate credit. Continuing Studies students are not matriculated (degree-seeking) students and are not eligible to live on campus or receive health insurance through Stanford.
If you would like to take regular undergraduate/graduate courses and live on campus, then you must enroll in Summer Session. Stanford only offers open enrollment in regular University courses during the Summer academic quarter.
