Pediatrics chair Mary B. Leonard called Friday, June 9, 2017 as a “day of celebration and recognition” for the department as she announced the promotions of thirteen faculty members at the 2017 Pediatrics Annual Awards and Promotions Day.

February 26, 2017-Announcement: Reflections on Diversity at Stanford Medical School: Past, Present, and Future.
At the January 25, 2017 Medicine Grand Rounds, Fernando Mendoza, MD, MHP, described the national importance of diversity in the workforce and its implications for patient care and practice. His talk inlcuded reviewing the history of diversity at Stanford Medical School and its implications for the school’s mission. He also provided best practice methods to improve diversity in our workforce.
June 21, 2016-Announcement: Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford named to U.S. News & World Report's 2016-17 Best Children's Hospitals Honor Roll.
In the U.S. News & World Report 2016-17 Best Children's Hospitals survey, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford has again received top honors. The Bay Area's largest health care enterprise exclusively dedicated to children and expectant mothers earned Best Children's Hospital Honor Roll status, making it the top ranked children's hospital in Northern California. Eleven children's hospitals nationwide were recognized for exceptional performance in specialized, high-complexity patient care. To achieve the Honor Roll, hospitals must have at least three specialties that rank in the top ten percent.
June 9, 2016-Announcement: Two Pediatrics fellowship coordinators chosen for 2015-2016 Outstanding Program Coordinators Award.
The Department of Graduate Medical Education at Stanford has recognized two Pediatrics fellowship coordinators as winners of the 2015-2016 Outstanding Program Coordinators Award.
The employees recognized for their outstanding effort are Megan Christofferson, Pediatric Gastroenterology, and Susan Freeman, Allergy/Immunology, Pediatric Rheumatology
June 17, 2016: Fellows Awards at Western Society of Pediatric Cardiology meeting
Division of Pediatric Cardiology fellows Kenneth Mah, MD, MS and Andrew Koth, MD received awards for abstracts describing their clinical research at the 27th Annual Western Society of Pediatric Cardiology (WSOPC) Conference, held in Park City, Utah on May 13-15, 2016.

May 17, 2016: Two faculty and one trainee awarded Innovation Grants through the new Stanford Medicine Teaching and Mentoring Academy
Three members of the Department of Pediatrics have been awarded Innovation Grants from the new Stanford Medicine Teaching and Mentoring Academy. The awardees are Associate Professor Lisa Chamberlain, MD, MPH, Associate Professor of Pediatrics (General Pediatrics), Assistant Professor Henry Lee, MD, MS (Neonatology), and pediatrics resident Danielle Shin, MD.
April 14, 2016: Pediatrics systems medicine Associate Professor and computer science undergrad at Stanford win top Student Health Tech Prize
Dennis Wall, PhD, Associate Professor of Pediatrics (systems medicine) at Stanford Children's Health and Catalin Voss, entrepreneur and Student University computer science undergraduate, have won the "Cure It!" 2016 Lemelson-MIT Student Prize for the Google Glass device that helps autistic children recognize and classify emotions. Congratulations!
March 24, 2016: Pediatrics critical care professor at Stanford Children's Health honored with Compassion in Action 2016 Award
Barbara Sourkes, PhD, a professor of critical care at Stanford Children's Health, was awarded the Compassion in Action 2016 Award at the ninth annual Compassion in Action Conference on March 24, 2016. Dr. Sourkes was selected in honor of her leadership of the Palliative Care Program at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford as well as her contributions to similar programs in Northern California and beyond. We are all proud of her many achievements!
March 15, 2016: Pediatric cardiology researcher-scientist at Stanford Children's Health honored for lifetime of contributions
Marlene Rabinovitch, MD, a pediatric cardiologist at Stanford Children's Health, will give the 2016 J. Burns Amberson Lecture at the American Thoracic Society's annual meeting in San Francisco on May 15.
March 7, 2016: Neonatology pioneer at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford and Stanford Children’s Health honored with major national award
David K. Stevenson, MD, phsician-scientist and outstanding role model, has dedicated his career to improving the lives of the smallest and sickest babies. Dr. Stevenson has been named recipient of the 2016 Joseph W. St. Geme Jr. Leadership Award by the Federation of Pediatric Organizations.
