Access policies described here apply to the Stanford University Libraries. Coordinate libraries (e.g., Business, Law, Hoover, Medical) and department libraries (Classics, Philosophy) may have separate access requirements and borrowing policies; consult them directly for information about using their facilities and resources.
Libraries with special policies
Some libraries have their own policies regarding entrance and usage:

- Government Documents: Free access to federal documents is publicly available through the Federal Depository Library Program. Stanford's Government Documents collection is located in Green Library, and open to visitors through the south entrance.
- Special Collections: Students, scholars, and the public are welcome to visit the Special Collections & University Archives reading room located in Green Library. Special Collections & University Archives materials are stored offsite and brought to the reading room. You can request these materials.
