Coordinate libraries (e.g., Business, Law, Hoover, Medical) and department libraries (Classics, Philosophy) may have separate access requirements and borrowing policies; consult them directly for information about using their facilities and resources.
Cards for access & borrowing
Some libraries require a Stanford University ID Card, SUL Card, or Visitor Pass for entry.
Proper library identification is required to check out library materials. The following cards are valid for borrowing:
- Stanford University Campus ID Card
- SUL Card issued by Privileges in Green Library
- Courtesy SUL Card
- Purchased SUL Card (corporate & individual fee borrowers)
- Proxy SUL Card (proxy borrowers sponsored by faculty)
- Research Library Cooperative Program (RLCP) card
- UC/Stanford Reciprocal Services Program (RSP) card

Report lost cards
Report lost cards immediately to the issuing office to prevent misuse. Students can also report their lost ID cards through Axess. Replacement card fees may apply.
