Letters of invitation for use by F1 or J1 students

As of March 1, 2013, Bechtel International Center is no longer providing letters of invitation

Information we have received from the Department of State and US Consulates abroad indicates that these letters are not considered in visa decisions, and are therefore not useful.

Instead, students are advised to write their own invitation letters (download template), along with providing supporting documents.

Evidence you should include to support your invitation letter:

· Copy of I-20 for F-1 students / copy of DS-2019 for J-1 students

· Copy of visa stamp

· Copy of passport

· Copy of Stanford transcript

· Family Invitation Letter: Proof of relationship between you and the person you are inviting
