Employee Survey

The survey is part of a campus wide initiative in which several University schools and units including the School of Medicine (SoM) took the opportunity to ask staff for feedback about their work environment.   This vital information is being used to help us make Stanford and the SoM an even better place to work.

The survey window was open from October 4 - 15, 2010.  2,794 employees from the SoM were invited to complete the survey.  These included Regular Staff, Bargaining Unit and Academic Staff, Research hired before June 1, 2010.  The survey contains 53 items rated on a 5-point scale.  Ratings scale from Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree and Not Applicable.  Rated survey items are grouped into 11 categories, called dimensions.  Results are reported by dimension and individual item.

The School’s survey response rate was 69% which was very good rate for a first time survey for the SoM.  In the upcoming months department managers will meet with staff to discuss the survey results and develop action plans to address the 2-3 areas of most concern.  Those plans will begin to be implemented in the spring of 2011.

We are excited about the coming year, and we are truly committed to making changes to improve our work place.
