October 9, 2015

Activities have resumed on the north side (westbound) of Alum Rock Avenue. This will continue through early November. For full details: Alum Rock@ Jackson-680.

Beginning on or about October 12, on the southside (eastbound) of Alum Rock Avenue, between U.S. 101-King Road, activities will resume, beginning with potholing and survey work. For full details: Alum Rock@ 101-King.

August 11, 2015

A ctivities Update

On July 9, 2015, the contractor struck a live gas line on Alum Rock at Ribbs Lane. The gas line was repaired and service restored later that same day. There was no other apparent damage. However, due to this major utility hit and other safety concerns, VTA has directed the contractor to cease all construction activities in the field while VTA and the contractor work to ensure resolution of all safety concerns.

Community safety is VTA’s top priority, and we are working with the contractor to ensure all safety concerns are resolved before resuming construction. During this stand down period, the contractor will continue to maintain a clean and safe construction zone, and maintain the traffic control along Alum Rock Avenue.

While we understand this prolongs the construction project, community safety is a top priority. We will continue to update you on the progress and to share a more comprehensive schedule update for you, including a schedule for the installation of the new shelters.

June 17, 2015

Construction activities will be diverting traffic to the outside curbside lanes in each direction of E. Santa Clara Street at 24th Street and southbound traffic will also be closed on 24^th Street beginning Monday, June 22, 2015. For full details please select the following link: 24th Street Paving.

June 1, 2015

Beginning Wednesday, June 3, crews will be working downtown San Jose on Santa Clara Street, between Firstt and Fifth Streets, to repair potholes. They will start between First and Second, and work east. Each location will take 2-3 days. For complete details, please select the attached link: Downtown Pothole Repair

May 26, 2015

The second phase of the final segment scheduled for roadway reconstruction and paving on the north side (westbound) of Alum Rock Avenue begins this evening, Tuesday, May 26, 7pm, through Friday, May 29, 7pm. This segment will take 72 hours, 3 days AND nights. Crews will be working from King Road to just beyond 33rd Street. Complete details of activities are attached in the link: Roadway Reconstruction/Paving.

Driveways will not be accessible by vehicles except for emergency vehicles, pre-arranged with the SJFD. Businesses and residents located on the north side of Alum Rock will be accessible for pedestrians via the sidewalk. Consider parking on nearby side-streets during this time.

Detours
Northbound/southbound 33rd and 34th streets crossing Alum Rock Avenue, and northbound from Alum Rock Avenue, will be detoured to North King Road. Please use posted detours.

East or westbound Alum Rock to northbound 33rd: continue to King Road, proceed north on King, make a left on St. James, or left on McKee, and left on 33rd.
- **NOTE: Additional roadway reconstruction/paving at this intersection will continue through Saturday, May 30.
East or westbound Alum Rock to northbound 34th: continue to King Road, proceed north on King, make a left on St. James, left on 34th.

May 18, 2015

Roadway reconstruction and paving is nearing completion on the north side of Alum Rock Avenue. The schedule for the final segment, between King Road and U.S. 101 on the north side of Alum Rock Avenue will be completed in 2 smaller phases. This has been revised to ensure emergency vehicle access, and has been coordinated with the San Jose Fire Department.

This week: Tuesday, May 19 through Thursday, May 21, 2015 – DAY WORK ONLY

Crews will be working in a short stretch between U.S. 101, west, to just beyond the driveway for the Bacalhau Grill restaurant/1555 Alum Rock Avenue. They will also be working in front of the driveway located immediately west of 1623 Alum Rock.

The following week crews will complete the remainder of the segment Tuesday, May 26, 2015, 7pm. This segment will take 72 hours, 3 days AND nights, and be complete Friday, May 29, 7pm. Driveways will not be accessible by vehicles except for those pre-arranged with the SJFD. Please use posted detours.

Businesses located on the north side of Alum Rock will be accessible for pedestrians via the sidewalk.

May 15, 2015

Roadway reconstruction and paving continues this weekend, located on the north end of the intersection of Alum Rock Avenue and King Road beginning this evening (Friday, 5/15) and will be complete late tomorrow night, (Saturday, 5/16).

Traffic on King Road will be shifted on the north side of Alum Rock, and a Traffic Patrol Officer will be at the intersection to guide traffic and pedestrians.
East and westbound Alum Rock through traffic will not be impacted.
North and southbound King Road traffic will be restricted (space) but also continue through.

Detours:
Left turns from eastbound Alum Rock to northbound King will be detoured to Jackson:
Eastbound Alum Rock to northbound King – continue east to Jackson, left on Jackson, left on McKee, continue to King, left onto King.

Left turns from southbound King to eastbound Alum Rock will be detoured to San Antonio:
Southbound King to eastbound Alum Rock – continue to San Antonio, left on San Antonio, left on Jackson, left onto Alum Rock.
