Get to the Pitch the Easy Way!

Take VTA on game/event days and avoid the stadium traffic and parking hassles. You can enjoy a pre-game meal in downtown San Jose, then head out with other fans for a fan-tastic trip to the game!

Remember, the key to a great game day experience is to plan ahead:
  1. Call VTA Customer Service for your personalized trip plan at (408) 321-2300 or use VTA's online Trip Planner (above);
  2. Purchase your Clipper card and load with cash or purchase your mobile ticket through VTA's mobile app, EventTIK (Android and Apple phones only. Download the App now and pre-purchase your fare. 
  3. Hop on board and enjoy the ride!

Bus Service

Line 10 (Santa Clara Transit Center to Metro Airport LRT Station via San Jose International Airport) -  Regular service operates every 30 minutes on evenings and weekends when most Avaya Stadium events will be held with connections to VTA Light Rail and Caltrain.

Line 231 (Downtown San Jose to Avaya Stadium) - Special pre-event buses operate every 15 minutes starting 2 hours before the event, with post game service operating until 1 hour after the event and connects to VTA Light Rail at First St. & Santa Clara St. After the event, buses pick up on Earthquake Way (view route map).  

VTA and the San Jose Earthquakes have partnered to offer VTA riders a special discount on game days. Just present your VTA fare ticket at the box office and receive $2 off of admission to the game. Just another great reason to ride VTA to the pitch! Please note: Tickets are limited and subject to availability. Discount valid towards regular season home games only. Some restrictions apply.

Our "Fare" Play on Gameday

Here are a few "Fare" plays to run on Gameday:

  • ​The "Square Pass" - Load cash value on your Clipper card.  Each rider must have their own Clipper Card and make sure you have enough value loaded to get to and from the game.
  • The "One Touch Pass" - You can download VTA's EventTIK mobile fare app* and purchase a round trip pass or a VTA Day Pass for everybody who are traveling together. There is a 50 cent service fee for each transaction.
  • The "Substitutions" - Purchase a single ride fare or VTA Day Pass onboard a VTA bus.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the postgame schedule for my bus?
A: Return service will begin after the end of the event to get customers back to their starting point. Also, once a bus leaves, another will be by shortly after to fill and keep people moving. This service will be available on Bus Line 231 until 1 hour after the game. Bus Line 10 will run on a normal schedule. 

Q: Will there be enough buses for each of the times listed to accommodate everyone who shows up?
A: Yes, we will use multiple buses as needed to ensure that everyone gets a ride to and from the stadium.

Q: I have never used VTA before. Will there be any VTA staff out on the event day in case I have questions?
A: Yes, we will have ambassadors at the stadium at key bus locations answering questions and helping customers reach their destination. You can plan your trip by calling VTA Customer Service before game day.

Q: I am coming from Caltrain, where can I connect with VTA to get to Avaya Stadium?
A: VTA connects with Caltrain at the Mtn. View, Sunnyvale and Santa Clara Stations. You can transfer from the Santa Clara Caltrain Station to VTA Bus Line 10 to get to the stadium.A special Caltrain/VTA Day Pass is available for purchase at the Caltrain platform. Please go to www.caltrain.com/events for more information.
