Additional Employment

Concurrent Employment

It may be possible to work for more than one H-1B employer at the same time.   Such employment would require the other employer to file a “concurrent” H-1B petition on your behalf.  If you have been approached to work for another employer, please discuss possibility of concurrent employment with their immigration advisors.

Off-Site Employment

Your Stanford sponsored H-1B status allows you only to work for the university in the occupation for which you were hired.  H-1B status does not allow you to be compensated for any work not approved in your H-1 petition.  Because of this outside payments of any kind, salary, stipends, honoraria or other compensation can’t be accepted.

Working for Stanford at another location

H-1B regulations restrict employees to how much time they may spend working at another location other than the one specified on their Labor Condition Application form.  If your job duties require you to work for a period of more than five days at another job location inside the U.S., please have your department contact the I-Center.
