Mauricio Farias

Mauricio is a doctoral student in the International Comparative Education Program at Stanford University. Before coming to Stanford, Mauricio was the Head of the Department of Research and Development at the Ministry of Education in Chile. In this position he was responsible of doing research, managing a research fund, gathering data and computing statistics, and managing school subsidies. He also worked as Advisor of the Vice Minister of Education in Chile and in the nonprofit sector, where he was the Principal of a childcare program. He obtained a Master in Applied Economics and a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering, both in the University of Chile. His research is mainly focused in different aspects of educational inequality in Latin American countries. His current projects are related to vocational education at secondary level and access to higher education as well as principal leadership in U.S.
