The Campus Card (variously known as the Stanford ID Card, University ID, or Student ID) serves as: an identification card; an electronic key card controlling access to residence and dining halls, libraries, recreational facilities, and staff office buildings; and a debit card which can be used to purchase goods and services at select locations on campus. Courtesy Cards are issued to certain University affiliates, including spouses/domestic partners of eligible employees. Recreation access cards are also available for dependents. See the Courtesy and Recreation ID Cards web page for more information.
Features
- Cardinal Dollars (prepaid dining dollars used only at Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE) dining locations, and some retail locations). Cardinal Dollars can be purchased online by students (and their parents), faculty, and staff.
- The StanfordCardPlan allows students to pay for goods and services on campus, including the Stanford Bookstores and other retail locations. The StanfordCardPlan for faculty and staff is a copy- and print-only debit plan.

New look for Stanford ID cards
Effective Aug. 1, 2014, the university will be issuing Stanford ID cards with a new look. While the change will not affect those with existing cards, IDs that are being issued to new employees and new students arriving this fall will look different. The changes have been made to ensure that the cards conform to Stanford’s updated wordmark and visual identity system.
Because this card looks different from existing cards, officials would like to make sure all campus departments and services are aware of the change — to limit confusion over the legitimacy of the new cards.
For those who are eligible for the Go Pass, the new design accommodates space on the front of the card for that sticker.
ID cards with the old design remain in effect unless the card is lost or stolen. Replacement cards will cost $25. When a replacement card is issued, it will reflect the new design.
