National Night Out

The 33rd Annual National Night Out will culminate on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. National Night Out is a program created by the National Associated of Town Watch and organized locally by the Santa Clara Police Department. National Night Out is designed to increase awareness of crime prevention programs and strengthen neighborhood spirit by creating a positive police and community partnership. On Tuesday, August 2 from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. residents in neighborhoods throughout Santa Clara and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on the outside lights, and spend the evening outside with neighbors, police, and the fire department to promote a neighborhood unit against crime. Register your neighborhood event. It's free and gives the police and other city representatives an opportunity to attend your even as time permits. The deadline to register is July 26, 2016.

The introduction of National Night Out, "America's Night Out Against Crime," in 1984 began as an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organizing and fighting back. |
