SUPER BOWL SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 7

The Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers will be playing in Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s® Stadium on Sunday, February 7 at 3:25pm. The attendance is estimated at 74,000. Event information can be found on the Levi’s® Stadium website at www.levisstadium.com and the Super Bowl Host Committee website at www.sfbaysuperbowl.com

Careful consideration has been made in the development of this Traffic Advisory.  However, should there be modifications to this plan, it will be communicated online and via Nixle. Residents, businesses, commuters, visitors, Super Bowl fans and attendees can simply text the word SB50 to 888777 or subscribe at www.nixle.com/SB50 to receive traffic, weather and safety updates.

RESIDENT AND BUSINESS INFORMATION

If you do not have a ticket to Super Bowl 50, please avoid the area on Sunday, February 7. Traffic Control Officers will be screening vehicles for parking lot passes;

    Road Closures

    • Tasman Drive will be closed between Convention Center Way and Calle de Sol from Sunday, January 31 through Tuesday, February 9. If the post event construction is completed earlier, the road closure will be opened accordingly. This closure will include all forms of transportation (e.g. vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists)
    • Tasman Drive will be closed from Great America Parkway to Calle de Sol on Sunday, February 7; 
    • Lafayette Street will be closed in the southbound direction (only) on Sunday, February 7 from 8:00am until after the egress following the game, between Great America Way and Calle de Primavera. Northbound Lafayette Street will be open to residents. Residents are encouraged to come from the south to enter the neighborhoods off Lafayette Street; 
    • The #1 lane of southbound Great America Parkway will be closed on Sunday, February 7 between Old Glory Road and Mission College Boulevard; 
    • Betsy Ross Drive will be closed on Sunday, February 7 between Old Mountain View – Alviso Road and Bunker Hill Lane; 
    • Counterflow traffic routing will be implemented during the third quarter of the game on Great America Parkway from Levi’s Stadium to Highway 237 and Highway 101. As a result, the Great America Parkway exit on Highway 237 will be closed from the third quarter through the conclusion of the stadium egress; 
    • No parking will be allowed on the clearly marked posted section of Lick Mill Boulevard on Sunday, February 7;

    Traffic

    • The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has launched a webpage to help with travel on highways throughout the region. This information can be found at www.superbowl50traffic.com
    • Residents should allow additional time for travel and may consider taking alternate routes to and from their homes;  
    • The City of Santa Clara Traffic Engineering Department has made live traffic cameras available to help individuals make travel decisions based on road conditions.

    NOTE:   Residents hosting Super Bowl parties please share this traffic advisory with your guests and encourage your guests to subscribe to Nixle for future traffic, weather and safety updates. The use of GPS systems is not recommended as it does not take into account road closures and the traffic plan developed exclusively for this event. 


    Creek Trail

    The San Tomas Aquino / Saratoga Creek Trail is closed between Agnew Road and Tasman Drive January 31 through February 9. If the post event construction is completed earlier, the road closure will be opened accordingly. Instead, creek trail enthusiasts have two route choices on their journey toward Sunnyvale Baylands or Milpitas:

     

    #1 – From Agnew, turn right on Mission College Boulevard, turn right on Great America Parkway and turn right on Old Mountain View / Alviso Road to catch the trail; or,

     

    #2 – Right on Agnew, turn left on Lafayette Street and catch the trail north of Great America Way (but before Highway 237)

    Flyover and Pyrotechnics
    A flyover and pyrotechnics are expected during Super Bowl.

    TRANSPORTATION

    Local and regional public transportations schedules have been altered January 31 - February 8 due to Super Bowl Week activities.  

    Light Rail service will continue to run on Tasman Drive through the evening commute on Friday, February 5. Following the commute on Friday, the Light Rail will discontinue running on Tasman Drive in front of the stadium. For full details, refer to www.vta.org or http://www.vta.org/superbowlsun

    BART Information

    ACE/Capital Corridor

    Due to the Tasman Drive closure, there are two detour options for train riders getting off at the Great America station. The distances are approximates.

    #1 - Travel north on Lafayette Street to Great America Way (0.91 miles), turn left on Great America Way (0.35 miles), turn left on Great America Parkway to Tasman Drive (0.81 miles); or,

    #2 - Travel south on Lafayette Street to Agnew Road (.93 miles), turn right on Agnew Road (0.76 miles), turn left on Mission College Boulevard (.51 miles), turn right on Great America Parkway to Tasman Drive (0.75 miles);

    Super Bowl 50 Host Committee has information about directions, public transportation, game day parking and Fan Express on their website.

    Public transportation is strongly encouraged to get to Super Bowl Week events. The Super Bowl 50 Host Committee has details regarding the event calendar, public transportation, Super Bowl 50 Fan Express, directions and the Road to 50 App at www.sfbaysuperbowl.com

    NEIGHBORHOOD PROTECTION PLAN

    The Neighborhood Protection Plan will be consistent with current major events at Levi’s Stadium. To reduce traffic in residential neighborhoods, the Santa Clara Police Department will have checkpoints at the following intersections:

    -              Lafayette Street and Calle de Primavera

    -              Bassett Street and Wyatt Drive

    -              Agnew Road and Lafayette Street

    -              Agnew Road and Mission College Boulevard

    UBER/RIDESHARE

    Uber/ride share drop-offs and pick-ups will take place from Red lot 7, located at Great America Parkway and Old Mountain View/Alviso Road. No other vehicles will be allowed to drop off at this location.

    TAXI

    Taxis will stage on Calle de Luna, east of the stadium. No other vehicles will be allowed to drop off at this location.

    OVERSIZE VEHICLE PARKING

    Oversize vehicles (bus/motorhome) will utilize Blue lot 1, located at Old Ironsides Drive and Democracy Way.

    HOTEL SHUTTLES

    Hotels with shuttles south of the stadium will be dropped off at the Mission College loop. Riders will need to walk from this location to the stadium. Hotels with shuttles north of the stadium will be dropped off at Red Lot 7, located at Great America Parkway and Old Mountain View/Alviso Road.

    PARKING LOTS

     

    All parking lots will open at 9:00am on Sunday, February 7 and ticket holders can access the stadium at 11:00am. A parking map is available online. Super Bowl 50 Parking Permits should be purchased online. If you are driving a personal vehicle, use the directions on the Super Bowl 50 Host Committee website. The use of GPS systems or other map websites is discouraged as they do not take into account current road conditions and the traffic plan developed exclusively for this event. Pre-paid parking passes can be purchased online. Tailgating will not be allowed. Do not park in residential neighborhoods.   

    ADA parking is offered in select lots. A state issued ADA tag must accompany your ADA parking permit, and the person to whom the tag is issued must be present in the vehicle. Once you have purchased an ADA parking permit, you will be contacted by the NFL Mobility Assistance Team to determine your needs once parked. There will be an ADA assistance team onsite to help anyone with mobility needs get from their car to their seats.
