Description of Residential Building

Apartment buildings are two stories with stairs to the second floor, or three stories with stairs and an elevator.  Most of the apartments are 2-Bedroom, 1-Bath or 4-Bedroom, 2-Bath units. Each person has a private bedroom, but the kitchen, living room, and bathroom are shared. Bathrooms include tub/shower combinations.

The Residential & Dining Enterprises Student Housing web site has a page with descriptions of the housing options on campus. Most summer visitors are placed in single student graduate housing at Rains, Lyman and Escondido Village.

Please note that the web site listed above is designed for Stanford graduate students and should be used only to view photos, floor plans, and descriptions.

Furnishings

Bedroom has an extra-long single bed, a desk, desk chair, bookcase, and dresser. Common living room has some combination of sofa/ love seat/ lounge chair, coffee table, dining table, and dining chairs. Televisions and decorations are not provided.

Kitchens

Kitchen comes equipped with a stove, oven, and refrigerator. Kitchen does not have a dishwasher or microwave. Kitchen supplies, including flatware and utensils, are NOT provided. Those not wishing to cook may purchase fresh, healthy, delicious meals at the Arrillaga Family Dining Commons (AFDC) as well as at various Stanford Hospitality and Auxiliaries retail locations.

Housekeeping 

Housekeeping service is NOT included in the apartment rate.  Cleaning supplies are not provided. Guests can purchase cleaning supplies at Tresidder Express, a small convenience store on the first floor of Tresidder Memorial Union.

Linen Services

Twin linen packs consist of towels (a bath towel and a face towel), two flat sheets, a pillow, a pillow case, and a blanket. They can be rented for $56. Linen can be requested ahead of time through the on-line housing application or rented through the Conference Front Desk (CFD) upon arrival.  Payment for linen rental will be required at check-in.

Parking Permits

Parking permits are required for campus parking. Residential parking permits may be requested ahead of time through the on-line housing application or can be purchased from the Front Desk upon arrival. Payment for parking permits will be required at check-in.  Daily Conference Parking Scratchers are $4.50/day and Monthly Parking Permits are $29. Only daily permits can be ordered online. Monthly permits can be purchased in person at the Front Desk.

Laundry Facilities

Laundry rooms are located in each housing complex. Rent includes Student Housing’s "Just Like Home" laundry program, giving residents unlimited use of these washers and dryers; no coins or cards required.

Key Agreements

We do not require visitors to pay a deposit upon receiving room keys. However, you will be required to accept liability for misplaced keys. In the event that keys are not returned, you will be billed for the cost of rekeying the apartment.

Fees and Payments

There is a $35 application processing fee. Balances due for lodging fees, processing fee, and any items ordered (linen packs or parking permits) are required to be paid upon check-in at the CFD. We accept MasterCard, Visa or cash for payment. We do not accept checks or any other credit cards.

Liability Waiver

All guests staying in housing through Stanford Conferences must submit a completed Liability Waiver Form upon check-in. Please complete the form and have it available at check-in.

Check-In Information

You must arrive on campus during normal working hours. Check-in is between 1 pm and 8 pm. When you receive your confirmation of reservation, read (carefully) the section on check-in. It will include the addresses and times for check-in according to the residence to which you are assigned and the Front Desk for your residence.

Early Check-Out

The minimum reservation is for 21 nights. If your reservation was for more than 21 nights, you may shorten your stay as long as the 21-night minimum is met and a minimum of 48 hours notice is given. If you wish to check out early, please contact the Front Desk.

Check-Out Information

Check-out is by 11 am. You are not considered checked out until all of your belongings are removed from the apartment and your keys are returned to the Front Desk. If you return your keys when the office is not open, please return them in an envelope marked with your name, apartment number, and the date. The envelope should be placed in the drop-box at the Front Desk.

Internet Access

Internet service during your campus stay is available through Stanford's Academic Computing department, and the charge is built into your nightly rate. Prior to arriving on campus, it is important that you make sure that your computer and other devices meet the requirements to access Stanford's internet service. Please read the Summer Conference Computing Service document and contact Academic Computing with any questions prior to your arrival. Wireless internet service is available. Please note that you will need to provide your own Ethernet cable to use the high speed data ports.

Campus Transportation

Campus shuttle service (known as "the Marguerite”) is available on weekdays, 6 am - 8 pm. No weekend service is provided. For Marguerite information and updates, please consult your Front Desk or visit the Parking and Transportation Services web site.

Application Process

Read the web site referenced below to learn about housing options and eligibility for each housing option. Submit the on-line housing application, indicating your housing preference and an alternate choice if desired. There is an "Additional Information" field in which you can provide information that we may need in reviewing your application.

Please note that your application cannot be processed until you provide proof of your Stanford affiliation. Proof of affiliation can be uploaded onto the housing application.

Housing is limited. If there is no housing available at the location you are requesting during the time period that you need housing, you can request that we keep your information in case space becomes available at a later date.
