Richard Webber joined Stanford in 2010 to lead the development and support of the learning and library management systems. He became Associate Vice Provost for Learning Technologies and Spaces in 2016. Richard leads support for Stanford’s formal and informal learning spaces, including university classrooms and student areas such as The Hub. He also has responsibility for central learning technologies including Canvas and related services. In 2020, Richard and his team joined Student Affairs, strengthening existing relationships and reinforcing the team’s focus on student success. 

Prior to joining Stanford, Richard worked in the development and leadership of software products in a variety of Silicon Valley companies including Hewlett-Packard and Intuit. During this time he gained experience in the design, implementation and support of complex enterprise applications, including online and web-based services.  

Richard received his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Cambridge University.
