Student Housing Application Deadline

If you need Student Housing for 2015-16, it is very important to apply on Axess by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015. Housing at Stanford is oversubscribed so please make sure to apply by the deadline. If you are a first-year student, you must apply by the deadline and indicate that you are willing to live everywhere to keep your guarantee. You may update your application or make any changes without impacting your chances of assignment until May 7, 2015.

To apply online, go to Axess, select Housing and Dining from the Student menu, then Apply for Housing.

Celebrating Future Careers!

Attention 4th year graduate students: Please join us for Celebrating Future Careers: Celebrate, Connect, Imagine, a special event and dinner to honor you at Cantor Arts Center on Friday, May 15th, 2015 from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm. Celebrate your achievements and reconnect with your cohort, connect with alumni and learn about their unique career paths, and imagine the opportunities before you. Keynote delivered by Joanna Mountain, Senior Director of Research at 23andMe. Please RSVP by April 30th to reserve your spot. May 15, 2015.

Joys and Challenges of Graduate Research - Wine Tasting Reception

Attention 2nd Year graduate students: we are having a special celebration for you again this spring -to commemorate your experience as a 'full-fledged' graduate student with a home in a thesis lab and for you to reunite with the 2013 Cohort you entered Stanford with as you began this journey. We are hoping to get the entire second-year class together for this special evening. Please join us for Joys and Challges of Graduate Research - Wine Tasting Reception on Thursday, May 28th, 2015 from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at the MSOB Courtyard. May 28, 2015.

Summer Quarter Mini Courses

These intensive 1-3 week courses allow students to tailor their education across disciplines without requiring a full quarter's commitment and are open to postdocs. Students and Postdocs explore new directions for current research, potential postdoctoral avenues, or just topics of interest. Stanford Biosciences students and postdocs have highlighted these offerings as among the most exciting parts of their education, for the way in which they catalyze their research and open new paths. Wellness Network!

Student Affairs has launched the Wellness Network at Stanford, an online directory which features more than 150 resources that connect students to immediate help, health and wellness, and communities of support. Resources for faculty, staff and families are also featured. The site spans the spectrum of support available for students, including professional counseling, crisis response, community centers, academic support, for-credit courses, financial assistance, stress, productivity, mentoring and many other resources available across Student Affairs, VPUE and VPGE. Go Passes!

IT'S A GO! New pilot program for Go Passes (passes for CalTrain rides) for Stanford postdoctoral scholars announced. Follow link for more information.

CALTRAIN GO PASS for OFF-CAMPUS GRADUATE STUDENTS NOW ALSO AVAILABLE. Eligible off-campus graduate students can purchase their 2015 Caltrain Go Passes. Please visit link above for more information on purchase and pick-up. Off-Campus Graduate student must first update their address on Axess. Allow two to three days for updates to Axess to be reflected at P&TS. Once you complete these steps, if you are eligible, you will be able to purchase the Go Pass.

Travel Grant Program

To encourage students to participate in conferences, especially at times when travel funds are in short supply, the SBSA (Stanford Bioscience Student Association) and School of Medicine Office of Graduate Education has established a fund to help with professional travel.

Academic Deadlines

  • Monday, March 30, 2015: First day of Spring Quarter/graduate instruction.
  • Friday, April 17, 2015: Deadline to submit final study list (add/drop units).
  • Wednesday, June 12, 2015: Last Day of Spring Quarter.
