Live Well

Stanford University is committed to offering you a wide range of health and life benefits designed to help you meet the needs of you and your family. This section includes information about the following benefits:

Medical

Stanford offers four types of medical plans: Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO), Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).

Mental Health & Substance Abuse

When you enroll in one of the medical options, you and your family are automatically covered for mental health and substance abuse care. The Stanford Faculty & Staff Help Center is available to all employees.

Dental

Stanford offers two Delta Dental plan options that provide coverage for dental care through Delta Dental's network of dentists. You may also see a dentist outside of Delta's network.

Vision

Stanford offers vision care that includes coverage for eyeglasses and contacts through Vision Service Plan (VSP).

Staying Healthy Programs

Stanford offers programs and services to promote your ongoing health and well being.

COBRA

If you or one of your covered dependents loses health coverage due to a life event, the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) allows you to continue coverage in Stanford-sponsored plans, provided you are enrolled in these plans on the date of the life event.

Medical Contribution Assistance Program (MCAP)

MACP makes it easier for you to provide medical coverage for your family.

HIPAA

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) requires Stanford to provide documentation of prior health coverage when you leave.
 

Life Insurance

Stanford provides basic life insurance plus the opportunity to purchase supplemental life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance.

Disability Benefits

Learn about our short-term and long-term disability benefits, including family leave.

Long-Term Care Insurance

Additional coverage for long-term care services such as nursing and home care for active employees, retirees and some family members.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Our Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) help you plan for certain expenses while reducing your taxes. Check out our health and dependent day care FSAs.

Health Savings Account

If you are enrolled in the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) a Health Savings Account (HSA) can help pay for healthcare expenses while reducing your taxable income.  Learn more about the HSA.
