Spring 2019 — Shift

We chose “Shift” as the theme for our Spring 2019 magazine because it allowed us to dive into Stanford GSB’s transformative nature — not only in the life-changing lessons taught here at school, but also in the way so many alumni continue to change direction decades after graduation. Among the many stories in this issue, two management experts explain how large firms can pivot like nimble entrepreneurs. A former banking executive in his 60s talks about his move to upstate New York, where he now runs a goat cheese farm. And an economics professors details why he’s hopeful that technological advances might soon cause a shift we can all embrace: an end to traffic jams. If you have a good story about your own personal or professional metamorphosis, please share it by sending an email to Stanford Business.
