In the week of August 31, CIFE and several members including GPLA and DPR hosted a group of construction industry professionals from Switzerland, including owners, architects, engineers, builders, and technology providers, to learn about BIM-based practices in the CIFE community and determine opportunities for improving the design, construction, and facility maintenance practices in Switzerland.

CIFE welcomed a group of construction professionals from Singapore for an introductory course to the VDC certificate program from July 9 to 14, 2015 to support the ambitious productivity improvement goals for design and construction practices in Singapore envisioned by the Building Construction Authority (BCA) of Singapore (a new CIFE member).

We received twelve proposals, with every one of them gaining the interest and support of members of the Technical Advisory Committee. Based on the input from the TAC, CIFE is pleased to announce that the following projects have been selected as the CIFE seed projects for the 2015-16 academic year:

CIFE taught a VDC Certificate Program introductory course to a group of construction professionals in Stavanger, Norway in the week of March 23, 2015. The course was hosted by CIFE member Kruse Smith and included participants from 11 companies (owner, developer, architecture, engineering, GC, and subcontractor firms). John Kunz, Mike Williams (PPI), and Martin Fischer taught the course. They were supported by Stanford alum Lars Christensen (multiBIM) and teaching assistant Christine Jun (a MS student in the SDC program at Stanford).

The 3rd BIM Conference in the Middle East, February 25-26, was a success. Watch the video for impressions of the conference, which included active participation from CIFE members Autodesk, Bentley, CCC, DPR, and Plan B.
