Create an Account

Before registering for a City of Sunnyvale program, you will need to establish a customer account and receive a household identification number. Accounts are available for both residents and non-residents. To establish a resident account, you will need to document your Sunnyvale residency (see residency qualifcations below). Complete the Customer Account Application. Return your completed form, along with a photocopy of each adult household member's identification. Bring or mail your completed form and documentation to:

Different Ways to Register

Online Registration
Self-register 24 hours a day, seven days a week, using your Household ID to register online. You may also browse our classes as a guest.

Fax-in or Mail-in Registration
Download the registration form. Fill it out completely, including your credit card number, credit card expiration date and credit card security code. Fax your completed form to (408) 730-7754. Or mail your completed form to:

Pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, the City of Sunnyvale will make reasonable efforts to accommodate persons with disabilities in the provision of City services, programs or activities. If you require special accommodation in order to participate in a City parks or recreation program, please let us know when you register.

Residency Qualifications

To qualify for Sunnyvale resident discounts on registrations and rentals, please provide documentation of Sunnyvale residency when first establishing your customer account, or whenever you relocate to a new address in Sunnyvale. The City may require periodic updates of residency documentation. A valid government-issued identification card showing your Sunnyvale address is the preferred form of documentation. If your photo ID does not show a Sunnyvale address, a second form of ID, which does show the Sunnyvale address, is required. The following is a list of acceptable forms of documentation.

Age
When a class specifies an age level, the participant must be that age by the class start date.

Residency
To qualify for the resident rate, the participant must be a Sunnyvale resident. Please be prepared to show proof of residency if requested

Cancellations and Waiting Lists

Cancellations
The Department of Library and Community Services reserves the right to cancel a class or activity when the minimum number of registered participants is not met. Please register early to avoid class cancellations. If a class is canceled, you will automatically receive a refund from the City in approximately four weeks.

Waiting Lists
During mail-in registration, when a class becomes full, your name will automatically be placed on a waiting list. If space in a class opens, we will notify you by telephone. In the event we cannot place you, your check will be returned to you. If you are paying for multiple classes with one check, you will receive a refund check from the City within approximately four weeks.

Refund/transfer policy

Complete a Refund Request Form. A $10 processing fee, per transaction, will apply for all refunds. A $5 processing fee, per transaction, will apply for all transfers. Participants may request a refund or transfer prior to the second class meeting for most classes, unless otherwise noted in the class description. No refunds or transfers will be granted after the second class meeting. Some restrictions may apply. Refunds and transfers will not be issued for one- or two-day classes, activities, trips, theater tickets, golf activities, food services or sports leagues. Refund request may be submitted along with receipt and completed refund request form via fax to (408) 730-7754 or in person. Requests for refund or transfer may also be made by phone, (408) 730-7350. If requesting a refund by phone, be prepared to verify transaction and household details, such as payment reference, household number and original receipt number.  Receipts can be printed online at no charge through your account.

Refund will be remitted to original payer. Please allow up to four weeks for processing. Credit card payments will be credited back to the card that was originally used to make payment. Check or cash payments will be refunded by check. The Department of Library and Community Services is dedicated to providing you with high quality recreation services. Our trained staff is happy to assist you in finding a class or activity to meet your needs. 

Please note:  Refund or transfer request for camps must be submitted at least four weeks before the first day of the camp.

Fee Waiver Assistance Program

Eligible Sunnyvale residents may apply to waive, or offset, the expense of the Department of Library and Community Services program registration fees for youth (age 17 and under) of up to $234 per eligible family member, per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).

This includes, but is not limited to, youth recreation classes and after school programs sponsored by the City. The Recreation Fee Waiver Assistance Program does not fund adult or senior programming, special events or participation in non-profit youth sports organizations. Recreation Fee Waiver Assistance Program resources are limited and subject to availability of funds. Please allow 30 (thirty) days for a response to your application. Applications for the Fee Waiver Program are accepted July 1-May 1. If you are granted a fee waiver, the last day to register for a program using your fee waiver funds is May 15. Any funds not used by May 15 are forfeited and cannot be carried over to the next fiscal year, nor used for another individual. Tennis Registration

Registration is taken in person at the Sunnyvale Tennis Center, or online via the Lifetime Tennis website.  For additional information or to be placed on the tennis mailing list, call the Sunnyvale Tennis Center at (408) 735-7285.
