Senior Amenities

Our service has a variety of amenities to help make your trip more convenient and accessible.

bus rampLifts/Ramps: All of our buses are equipped with lifts or ramps to make boarding easier. Let the bus operator know you need it, and they will make the lift or ramp available. Using the lift/ramp makes boarding easier, especially if you use a mobility device, and will be made available to any passenger who asks. In addition, many of our buses can lower, or “kneel”, to make boarding easier.

Level Boarding: All of our light rail platforms are level with our trains, making it a very smooth experience to board a light rail train. Be aware there is a small gap (about 1/2 inch) between the platform and the train. This should not pose an issue for boarding, but passengers boarding with mobility devices should be aware of it.

Elevator at a light rail stationElevators/Escalators: All light rail platforms that are not on street level are equipped with an elevator and at least one escalator, in addition to stairs.  Passengers are welcome to use the escalator or elevator to access the platform.

Priority Seating: All buses and light rail have a designated seating area for seniors and people with disabilities. Please mention that you would like to use the priority seating if they are occupied, and the operator will ask passengers if they would move to make room. Operators can’t force passengers to move, even if they are not elderly or have disabilities.

Announcements: Buses and light rail trains have both internal and external announcements. External announcements are played when the bus or train arrives to identify the route and destination for waiting passengers. Internal announcements provide important information for riders and announce up-coming major stops and stations. This is very helpful if you are traveling in an unfamiliar area or have difficulty reading vehicle headsigns.
