BRT Vehicles and Stations
The BRT station and BRT vehicle are designed to work efficiently with each other. Before the BRT vehicle arrives, passengers purchase their tickets or tap their Clipper cards at the station. When the BRT vehicle arrives, all three doors open and passengers may board through any door. This decreases the boarding time and relieves the driver from the responsibility of fare collection. Roving fare inspectors will be responsible for checking proof of payment, like on VTA's light rail system.
Unless there is a special circumstance, such as boarding a disabled passenger, the entire stop is expected to take less than 20 seconds.
BRT Station Amenities
BRT stations will feature weather protection, more seating, real-time next bus information, ticket vending machines, Clipper tap stations, informational displays, brighter lighting and security cameras.
New BRT Vehicles
BRT vehicles will feature low floors (no stairs), comfortable seating, free WiFi and internal bicycle storage. In addition to the bicycle rack on the front of the vehicle, which can hold two bicycles, there will be easy-to-use storage for about three bicycles just inside the rear door.
