Coming in January: Welcome Center Format and Agenda Enhancements
The Welcome Center team announces the launch of a new orientation format and agenda, beginning on Monday, January 25, 2016. Some of the new agenda items include a campus tour, enhanced benefit and retirement overviews and new staff-focused information sessions. All current compliance, training and administrative tasks and initiatives will remain in place. Be sure to check the Welcome Center website in January for more details.

Send Enrollment forms early for the 11/30/15 Welcome Center!

Due to the University closure in observance of Thanksgiving Holiday on 11/26 and 11/27, please be sure to follow the appropriate deadlines for the 11/30 Welcome Center:
- For departments that use HR Transaction Services for hiring: DoR, OPP, LBRE, VPUE, R&DE, etc.
- Submit enrollment forms by 11am on Tuesday, 11/24
- For departments that process their own hires: SoE, SoM, Law School, H&S
- Submit enrollment forms by 11am on Wednesday, 11/25
Now Sending Emails on Wednesdays As Well!

Don't hesitate to turn in those enrollment forms early, as we will now send an additional Welcome Center invitation 4 days prior (Wednesday) on top of the existing Thursday emails (10 days prior and 3 days prior) and Tuesday email (5 days prior). This should help new hires complete required pre-work steps prior to orientation, including watching benefits videos regarding their benefits and setting up their SUNet ID and Two-Step Authentication.

All benefits-related handouts provided at the Welcome Center are now available for download here. If your new hires need additional support understanding their benefits or making elections, they can call the UHR Service Team at (650) 736-2985 or login to My Benefits to connect with a specialist via live chat.

Hiring Date Flexibility for Academic Staff and Other Teaching Titles

It can be tough to start Academic Staff and Other Teaching Titles on Mondays for a variety of reasons. To ensure the Welcome Center meets the needs of these valued staff members we have updated our policies:
- Any new hires classified as Academic Staff (A) or Other Teaching Titles (O) are eligible to attend the Welcome Center within 5 business days of their start date.
Online Orientation (ONB-1000) Now Available!

The Cardinal at Work Welcome Center has published an online course (ONB-1000) to support new hires unable to attend the full-day Welcome Center on their first day of employment. The online course includes a brief overview of: Stanford’s history, organizational structure, and ways to get connected Benefits, including a medical plans comparison and information on Flexible Spending Accounts Stanford Contributory Retirement Plan And added new post on benefits forms.
