Green Library has a host of scanners available to both public and Stanford-community patrons, and has just added another scanner option to the mix. The BookScanner 7145 is a welcome addition to our line of scanners because of its wonderful features.

The BookScanner 7145 is a zero-edge scanner that will scan to the edge of the glass, allowing you to scan to the inside of the book spine without image distortion. The unique design of this scanner allows for books and journals to be placed on the scanner at a 90-degree angle. This will give our printed materials longer life because users will not have to press the spine to the glass in order to scan the pages. This scanner will be particularly useful for scanning fragile material, preserving our printed resources.

The scanner produces quality images. Those scanning pages with images will see the clarity, vibrant colors, and intricate details of the image. Those wanting to use optical character recognition (OCR) on their scanned documents will also be pleased with the clarity of this scanner. This scanner is extremely fast and very easy to use. Pages are scanned in about three seconds using the book scan utility.

The new scanner can be found in Green Library – East, first floor, in the IC-periodicals computer cluster. Documentation is available at the scan station. Note: This scanner ONLY WORKS ON WINDOWS and is only available to Stanford patrons possessing a full-service SUNet ID.
