Central Expressway Traffic Advisory

Mountain View Light Rail Double Track Project
Construction Update and Traffic Advisory

Overview
Construction of the second set of light rail tracks between the Mountain View and Whisman light rail stations is nearly complete. One remaining section without new track, however, is located where the current track crosses the westbound lanes of Central Expressway.

The new track will be constructed beginning Friday night, September 18, 2015, with construction continuing throughout the weekend.

Traffic Impacts

What:
Westbound Central Expressway will be closed, with traffic in both directions reduced to a single lane each travelling on the section of the expressway normally used by eastbound traffic. This will take place between Whisman Station Drive and Ferguson Drive. Uniformed law enforcement officers will direct traffic at the two intersections.

When:
8 p.m. Friday, September 18-5 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2015

Construction Impacts

What:
Work will be non-stop throughout the weekend so all activities can be completed before the Monday morning commute. Expect increased noise levels soon after the westbound lanes of Central Expressway are closed Friday night.

When:
Preliminary work will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2015, with work beginning in earnest after the last light rail train travels through the area later that night.
