Successor to the Redevelopment Agency
Cupertino’s Redevelopment Agency dissolved as of February 1, 2012 according to state law. The City elected to become a Successor to the Redevelopment Agency (Successor Agency) in order to manage the wind-down of remaining contracts and obligations of the former Redevelopment Agency. The City Council remains the governing board of the Successor Agency. However under state law, a new Oversight Board was created to approve actions proposed by the Successor Agency and to direct the Successor Agency to take certain actions. The seven-member Oversight Board consists of one member appointed by the Mayor, one appointed by the former RDA employee union, two appointed by the County Board of Supervisors, one appointed by the County Board of Education, one appointed by the largest special district, and one appointed by the Chancellor of California community colleges. Cupertino’s Successor Agency Oversight Board members are as follows:
Gilbert Wong, City of Cupertino
Carol Atwood, City of Cupertino
Irene Lui, Santa Clara County
Rebecca Haggerty, Santa Clara County
Mike Rock, Santa Clara County Central Fire District
Hector Quinonez, Foothill De-Anza Community College District
Rick Hausman, Cupertino Union School District
The Oversight Board has regular meetings at 11:00 a.m. the 2nd Friday of each month starting in May 2012, with special meetings called for as necessary. The meetings take place at Cupertino City Hall.
