The Cupertino Union School District, with state and national recognition for the excellence of its schools, serves over 17,000 students—representing 46 different languages—in a 26-square mile area that includes the city of Cupertino and portions of five other cities in California’s Silicon Valley. The district is comprised of twenty elementary schools and five middle schools.

Cupertino is committed to developing an inclusive, caring educational community in which each individual has an equal opportunity to achieve his or her potential. The district serves a richly diverse student population—67% Asian (includes Indian subcontinent), 26% White, 5% Hispanic, 1% African American, and 1% Filipino.

Historically, district test scores have been high, placing the Cupertino Union School District among the premier public school districts in the state. The district is a leader in the development of a standards-based system of education and is nationally recognized for leadership in the use of technology as an effective tool for learning. A dedicated and caring staff, high parental involvement, and community partnerships are all keys to the success of the district.
