The Cherry Blossom Festival - April 23 & 24, 2016 10:00 am-5:00 pm, Memorial Park
The Cherry Blossom Festival honoring Cupertino's sister city of Toyokawa, Japan, is an annual event held at Memorial Park each April. This event offers a wide selection of Japanese food and beverages, entertainment, demonstrations, cultural exhibits, art, crafts and clothing for sale. All-day entertainment takes place in the park amphitheater.
The festival benefits the non-profit Cupertino Sister City Committee, which promotes friendship and student exchange programs between the two cities. Local non-profit organizations that support services for disadvantaged youth, sports, music and language programs will have booths to raise funds for their groups.

Pedal 4 the Planet Ride - April 30, 2016, 9:30 am- 12:30 pm/ Bike ride begins at 10:00 am
This event begins at the Cupertino Civic Center, 10300 Torre Ave. and features a 6 mile bike ride around Cupertino's parks and schools. For kids ages 8+ and their families, the ride will be chaperoned by city staff and experienced Cupertino cyclists. Come early at 9:30 am for free bicycle checks and minor tune-ups. Fourth of July - Daytime Activities Begin at 7:00 am, Memorial Park
The City celebrates the 4th of July with a pancake breakfast, hosted by the De Anza Optimist Club. Following breakfast, there is a children's parade that winds through Memorial Park, ending at the Quinlan Community Center. The event includes a community sing-a-long of patriotic music. Free Shakespeare in the Park began in 1983, with its debut production of The Tempest in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. It is now one of the major free Shakespeare programs in the nation. West Valley Community Services Annual Barbecue, Blackberry Farm

Proceeds from this event help West Valley Community Services provide emergency assistance and housing services to low-income families in the West Valley area. The Cupertino City-Wide Garage Sale, September 17 & 18, 2016
Each September families in the city of Cupertino choose to pass along usable items to their neighbors, rather than sending them to the dump. The fewer materials are sent to landfills for burial, the fewer natural resources are wasted, the less the City spends on disposal, and the more money residents make at their garage sale.
The City encourages neighbors to work together to hold block sales and multi-family sales. Block sales and multi-family sales tend to draw more attention from customers, and are highlighted on the garage sale promotion material.
Garage sale participants register online with the City and the City also provides them with a helpful garage sale kit. The garage sale customers can access the garage sale information by picking up the printed garage sale list and map or by viewing the information online on the City's website. Tournament of Bands
Bay Area high school marching bands compete annually in October. The event features a rousing marching band parade at 10:00 am on Stevens Creek Boulevard and Torre Avenue. The parade ends at Cupertino High School on Finch Avenue. Visit Tournament of Bands website for more information.
Diwali Festival - October 15, 2016, 10:00 am-5:00 pm, Memorial Park
The Cupertino Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual Diwali Festival at Memorial Park. This event showcases multi-cultural music, dance, arts and crafts, fun, frolic and food. The purpose of this festival is to get together and celebrate intercultural understanding that promotes economic prosperity. Admission and parking are free. Kick off the holiday season with this annual Cupertino tradition held at the Quinlan Community Center. The event features a community sing-along and the arrival of Santa Claus in a fire truck. This free event is open to all Cupertino residents. Participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or a new toy to the event.
