Program Officer, Marine Microbiology Initiative

Adam is a program officer with the Moore Foundation's Marine Microbiology Initiative. 

Prior to joining the foundation, Adam was an AAAS science and technology policy fellow at the State Department in Washington, DC, where he served as a country desk officer for Germany. Adam has a broad research background in marine natural products biochemistry, genetics, genomics, drug discovery, and field ecology. Adam has also conducted fieldwork in a variety of temperate and tropical locations around the world. Adam completed his postdoctoral research as an Alexander von Humboldt fellow at the University of Tübingen in Germany, where he worked on bacterial genetic engineering and manipulating large natural product gene clusters.  

Adam received a B.S. in biology from Providence College, a M.S. in marine biology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and a Ph.D. in oceanography from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego.
