Rachel
Strader

Program Officer, Marine Conservation

Rachel oversees the portfolio of grants for ocean planning in New England and reforming fisheries management in both New England and the West Coast of the U.S., as well as develops strategy and fosters partnerships in these areas. 

She joined the foundation in 2004 as a research fellow and team member investigating opportunities and designing strategy for the foundation’s marine conservation work. Previously, she explored groundfish management as an intern at the Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance in Maine and through her graduate school work. She also analyzed right whale ship strike patterns and policy options as a fellow at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.

Rachel earned a B.S. in biology from Union College in Schenectady, New York, and a Master of Environmental Management with a concentration in coastal management from Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment.
