Program Officer, Data-Driven Discovery Initiative

Carly Strasser 525x525

Carly is a program officer for the Data-Driven Discovery Initiative, an effort within the foundation’s Science Program to promote the researchers and practices required for impactful data-driven research, with a broader vision of accelerating scientific discovery.

Previously, Carly was a research data specialist at the California Digital Library. In this role, she was involved in the development and implementation of many of the University of California Curation Center's services, and worked to promote data sharing and good data management practices among researchers at the University of California and beyond. Carly’s prior experience as a researcher in marine science and mathematical ecology has informed her work towards ushering in the new era of open, transparent and collaborative science. 

Carly received a B.A. in marine science and a Ph.D. in biological oceanography from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program.
