Gary
Greenburg Ph.D.

Program Officer, Science

As a Science Program officer, Gary focuses on advanced biological imaging technologies, cell and molecular biology, and biological research at the interface of physics, chemistry and engineering.

Previously, Gary was a founding member and vice president for research at Science Foundation Arizona, where he oversaw an $80 million grant portfolio. He was also on the faculty at the University of Arizona.

Gary received the Society for Developmental Biology’s Young Investigator Award for his pioneering work in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). He has extensive experience in the biotechnology industry, serving as vice president of research at Reconstructive Technologies, Inc., a tissue engineering startup, and a director at Cell Genesys Inc., where he led pre-clinical efforts in cell/gene therapy and cancer immunotherapy. He has five issued patents and publishes extensively.

Gary received a B.A. in biology from University of California, San Diego, and a Ph.D. in cell and developmental biology from Harvard University. He was a Life Sciences Research Foundation Fellow with Nobel Laureate Günter Blobel at Rockefeller University.
