The Stanford University Libraries have partnered with Eastside College Preparatory School to provide paid summer internships to local aspiring 1st-generation college students.  The goal of our program is to provide the interns with paid job experience while exposing them to key aspects of college life, especially the role of libraries in student success. Our vision is to create successful students who love libraries!

Our second cohort of interns includes 6 recent Eastside graduates, all of whom will be the first in their families to attend college in the fall, and 4 Eastside juniors. In addition to providing these students with well-paying summer jobs in the libraries, our program will include enrichment activities designed to increase the interns’ awareness about key sources of support available at their college. Enrichment activities will include tours of campus, multi-media skills, guest speakers, and an introduction to using a college library. The SUL summer 2014 interns and Chris B. in the cactus garden.
