Settling Into Your New ResidenceHelpful Hints
Recycling containers for cardboard, mixed paper, cans, bottles, and plastics are located near the dumpsters at each residence. Adjusting your bedDuring the summer we do not offer lofting. You are able to adjust your bed height from the standard captain’s height to lower levels. For more information on adjusting your bed, please visit Lofting your bed.
Captain’s height Treat the walls gently! Please use small push pins when decorating your walls; nails, screws and double-backed tape damage them. We advise against message boards, which can be a surprising source of wall and door damage. Tape used to affix the boards mars the walls, and they leave a dark residue that may result in a charge to repaint the wall. When you decorateFor ideas on ways you can safely modify your campus space, see “Personalizing your campus home”on the R&DE Student Housing website. Room Condition FormsPlease complete your room/apartment condition form! We know you are anxious to get settle in, but before you do, please take a moment to complete an on-line room condition form. This form gives you the opportunity to declare the condition of your room and its contents when you move-in and help to avoid being charged for pre-existing conditions when you move out. Be sure to provide details about the damage and location (e.g., nail hole in right wall). LockoutsIf you’re locked out, come to your local Housing Front Desk during normal business hours or see your Summer Resident Assistant (SRA) after hours. If you lose your key and your room needs to be rekeyed, the charge is $119 for Governor's Corner, Crothers Hall, or Branner. The charge for Mirrielees is $235-$276, depending on the number of bedrooms in your apartment. After-hours lockout service is also available through the Housing Access Response Team (H.A.R.T.) by contacting 650-725-1602. There is a $45 fee for lockouts performed by HART. |

Smoke Free EnvironmentsAll University residences are smoke-free environments. Smoking is not permitted in the building. Outdoor smoking areas must be at least 30 feet away from doorways, open windows, covered walkways, and ventilation systems to prevent smoke from entering enclosed buildings. Violations of this policy are reported to the Assistant Dean of Summer Session.. |

Staying SafeUnfortunately, thefts do occur on campus, and not everyone has your best interest in mind. Please:
These are a few simple steps to help ensure your safety, the safety of fellow residents, and of everyone’s property! For information on bike safety, Rap Sheet Quarterly Newsletter, Crime Alerts, and Safety and Security Reports, visit the Stanford University Department of Public Safety website (http://www.stanford.edu/group/SUDPS/) Card Access InformationYour Stanford ID card will give you access to the residences to which you have been assigned or which have shared spaces with your residence. Please note that Jenkins, Anderson, Marx, Potter, Robinson, and Griffin (all at Governor's Corner) are not yet utilizing the card access system. Treat your SU-ID card like a key; if you lose or misplace it, report the loss immediately to the SU-ID Card Office, located in the Student Services Center (http://studentservicescenter.stanford.edu), second floor, Tresidder Memorial Union. Tips for using the card access system at your residence:
If you need a new card, you can get one at the Card Office, located in the Student Services Center, second floor, Tresidder Memorial Union. |

Don't Forget About Your Room PhoneDid you know that your campus room comes with landline phone service? Simply plug in your phone in one of the white colored ports, just above your rooms data jack (orange/red colored). In case of campus emergencies, such as an earthquake, this landline service could be essential in case cell service would be compromised. Having your phone hooked up will also allow guests to contact you from the DoorKing phones located at the building entries. If you don’t have a phone, please visit your local Housing Front Desk for a replacement phone. For more information on room phone service, please visit the Stanford University IT page. |
