Photo of Carol Hoffmann

After almost 16 years of exemplary service, Carol Hoffmann is retiring from Stanford University Libraries to enjoy a well deserved “life of leisure” with her immediate family. She and her husband will remain in the area for the next few months, but may relocate to their old stomping grounds in Ohio to be close to lots of family and longtime friends.

Carol joined the Serials Receiving and Maintenance Unit in the Acquisitions Department as a Library Specialist in September of 1999 after moving to the Bay Area and re-entering the working world, having spent the previous 20 years raising her children and caring for her family. She was initially hired into a one year term position as we embarked on converting from manual to online serials check-in, but ended up staying for many, many more years. While working in Serials, she checked-in / processed huge numbers of journals, claimed countless missing issues, performed maintenance on thousands of records, and solved a multitude of serials related problems – always with great competence, patience, and a smile on her face.

We want to thank Carol for her many years of excellent and faithful service, and we wish her the very best of everything and a wonderful new chapter of life as she enters the world of retirement. We will miss her very much!

Please stop on by the 4th floor of Lathrop Library and say good-bye to Carol. Her last day with us will be Friday, June 12, 2015.
