In “The quest to save today’s gaming history from being lost forever: Changes in digital distribution, rights management increasingly make preservation tough” (ars technica, June 2, 2015), Henry Lowood, curator for the History of Science & Technology Collections and Film & Media Collections in the Stanford University Libraries, said: "If you want to know how the game was played in 2014, you will need documentation about how the game was played in 2014. Having the game available to you in 2064 so that you can play it yourself won't tell you anything about that. It just tells you how you, 50 years later in a completely different environment, will play that game.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Stanford's first NCAA women’s basketball championship in 1990 (the Cardinal won a second title in 1992), assistant university archivist Josh Schneider curated a small exhibit entitled “Home of Champions” in the Bender Room, Green Library.

Stanford, CA—The nation’s oldest Chinese civil rights organizations, the Chinese American Citizens Alliance (C.A.C.A), announced its Grand Lodge archives will be placed with Stanford Libraries. The announcement took place at C.A.C.A. headquarters on Stockton Street in San Francisco.

This exhibit features the "VELA 6911 by Victor Gama Collection (ARS.0149)"  

The VELA 6911 collection contains materials related to the creation of Victor Gama's multimedia performance piece, VELA 6911. The work is based on the signature nuclear explosion double-flash that the U.S. Vela Satellite registered in 1979 over Antarctica near South Africa.
