The latest Stanford Presidential Lecture website was published recently, highlighting upcoming lecturer Marilynne Robinson, excellently written and curated by Rebecca Wingfield, Stanford University Libraries' Curator for British and American Literature.

You can find this unique collection of writings (including Rebecca's essay, selected bibliography, and selection of excerpts of Robinson's work) on Stanford's Presidential Lectures in the Humanities and Arts website.

Robinson's Presidential Lecture itself will take place this week, on Thursday, October 29 (6:00 PM, CEMEX Auditorium, in the Graduate School of Business). The event is open to the public, but seating is limited.

Stanford Libraries bibliographers (with a small team of others in the Libraries) have been producing these websites since the beginning of the Presidential Lecture series in 1998, as a service to the Stanford Humanities Center (which now runs the Lecture series) and its predecessors. SUL's intense work on these digital publications -- intended, and widely understood, as original and lasting scholarly contributions -- began under the direction of Peter Blank, and has continued lo, these 17 years, under the batons of Bill McPheron, Zachary Baker, and Ben Stone.  Serving as technical editor (together with Everardo Rodriguez, the sites' expert coder/designer) has been one of my favorite duties for much of that time.

At this point our series includes sites dedicated to 54 Presidential Lecturers, including many of the greatest writers, artists, and thinkers in the contemporary humanities and arts -- written and curated by many of our own greatest bibliographers. You can still read them all, listed in either chronologically or alphabetically, on the site.  It's quite a collection.
